Edoardo Vella is a multi-disciplinary composer and sound artist.

The centre of his creativity is the exploration of new sonic possibilities, to expand the perception of ‘beauty’ and ‘harmony’ throughout the concepts of imperfection and roughness.
As well as researching a new balance in between technology, science and nature, in relation to how our creative instincts are exploited and the musical material crafted.

He oscillates in between a more traditional orchestral composition to purely electronic based music productions; frequently finding his favorite playground in a mixture of the two worlds. He creates and research towards an hybrid approach, which often results in a very unique and unexpected sound quality.

Bio
Starting my musical adventure as a pianist, I moved to composition quite precociously, when I was only 13 years old.
I begun my studies at Scuola di Musica di Fiesole, with Maestro Andrea Portera, then accomplishing a bachelor at the Royal College of Music of London, concluding my academic journey with a Master Degree in film music at the National Film and Television School.
Besides I attended and obtained different short diplomas in important institutions such as: Accademia Chigiana (Siena), Chetham School of Music (Manchester), Point Blank Music School (London) and others, studying different disciplines, like: film music, jazz improvisation, sound engineering, sound design, opera composition and more.
I have been so lucky to confront myself and to study with some of the main personality of contemporary music, such as: Peter Maxwell Davies, Dario Marianelli, Mark-Anthony Turnage, Pete Anthony, Luis Bacalov, Ennio Morricone, Marco Beltrami, Dai Fujikura, Michael Oliva, Giorgio Battistelli, Nicola Piovani, Richard Boal, Girolamo Deraco, John McLeod, Stuart Earl, John Keane, Steve Reich and many others.
I am flattered to count already around 35 world premieres, also thanks to prestigious collaborations, like: National Portait Gallery of London, the Britten Theatre (London), Puccini Chamber Opera Festival, Orchestra da Camera Fiorentina, AIR Studios, Teatro Verdi, ORT and more...

vedo.sonoro
vedo.sonoro is my ‘giardino sonoro’ (please read about Pinuccio Sciola). It’s a place where I want to share my passion and love for sounds, for music, for the art of ‘listening to’, that can also stand for ‘feeling’ sounds, or ‘seeing sound’ or listening to the absence of sound.
I am willing to share everything about my researches, about my work.
I believe that to have no secrets and ‘gifting’ things that I learn and I fatigue to achieve is the best way to value my efforts.
My dream is to create a sense of community in the invisible world of sound, and I will work towards this purpose too.
Beside music, on here, I will share my collaboration experiences, my thoughts and my studies about sound and acoustic.
Check the section of ‘archive/news’ to find more about all this.

vedo.sonoro will be a playground ruled by total artistic vulnerability, where I won’t try to impress you, but I just want to portrait my sonic journey, both in its successes and in its failures.
I am also very opened and happy to collaborate. If you are an artist in any field, that can go from dance to poetry or whatever, I am always so pleased to build new creative bridges and to discuss and start new projects, or even just to share thoughts.

Sound is a very quiet and lonely place. To be able to share our acoustic thoughts is such privilege, because it allows us to dissociate this art from out ego, throwing it in the larger spectrum of the ‘invisible’. In origin, all of us is a sound. vedo.sonoro wants just to be a diapason and, hopefully, it will allow my soul to resonate.
